Imprivata and Teradici Announce Industry’s First PC-over-IP Zero Clients with Strong Authentication for VMware View

Zero clients from Cisco, Dell, Samsung, Wyse and others will virtually eliminate the need for desktop management and provide clinicians with No Click Access® for Roaming Desktops

LAS VEGAS August 29, 2011 — Today at VMworld® 2011, Imprivata and Teradici announced availability of enhancements to Teradici PCoIP® firmware and Imprivata OneSign® software that will for the first time provide integration and interoperability of PC-over-IP (PCoIP) zero client devices with authentication management and single sign-on software. The integrated solution enables PCoIP zero client vendors, including industry leaders Cisco, Dell, LG, Samsung and Wyse, to support user authentication technologies such as a proximity badges. Healthcare providers that deploy these new zero clients with VMware View and Virtual Desktop Access (VDA) can fully realize the cost and workflow efficiency benefits of desktop virtualization, increase clinician satisfaction and accelerate electronic medical records (EMR) adoption through No Click Access.

Lower Operating Costs with PCoIP Zero Clients

PCoIP zero clients virtually eliminate the need for desktop management because they have no CPU, application OS, device drivers, fan or hard drive. The benefits of PCoIP zero clients for IT in healthcare, education and government organizations include low operational cost, increased security capabilities, a rich user experience, and future-proof desktop scalability.

Increase Clinician Satisfaction and EMR Adoption with Imprivata No Click Access

Rich media hardware zero clients from Cisco, Dell, LG, Samsung, Wyse and others that use the new Teradici firmware, Imprivata OneSign and VMware View will support:

  • No Click Access to EMR, PACS and CPOE and other applications with proximity cards and more
  • Follow-me virtual desktop roaming, to maintain the desktop’s previous state as a user roams between workstations
  • Workflows that require transaction-based authentication such as drug disbursement or signing a prescription order for a controlled substance using Imprivata ProveID™

The industry’s First PC-over-IP® Zero Clients with Strong Authentication for VMware View can be seen at virtualized desktops that will be roaming throughout the show floor at this week’s VMworld 2011 Conference.
